Objective:

This project aimed to assess the impact of ECI’s National Awareness Campaign on Disability among children across 16 provinces in Afghanistan. The baseline and end-line surveys were designed to measure public perceptions, inclusivity, and awareness levels regarding disability, providing data-driven insights to enhance advocacy and policy interventions.

Methodology:

A structured transformative approach was applied to collect qualitative and quantitative data, ensuring comprehensive coverage of public attitudes and systemic challenges. Data collection methods included:

  • Household Surveys: Engaging 1,886 respondents to assess societal perceptions.
  • Focus Group Discussions (FGDs): Conducting 134 FGDs to capture community insights.
  • Key Informant Interviews (KIIs): Engaging 67 key stakeholders for policy-level perspectives.
  • Case Studies: Developing 16 detailed case studies to highlight lived experiences.

Advanced data analysis tools such as KoBo Toolbox and SPSS were used for data processing, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

Scope of Work:

Adroit Associates led the end-to-end execution of the survey, including:

  • Survey Design: Crafting structured tools to measure baseline and end-line impact.
  • Data Collection: Conducting fieldwork across 16 provinces, employing inclusive and culturally sensitive methodologies.
  • Community Engagement: Encouraging participation from diverse groups, ensuring representation of disability stakeholders.
  • Analysis & Reporting: Synthesizing key findings into actionable insights to support ECI’s advocacy and policy recommendations.

Key Findings and Impact:

The survey revealed increased awareness and positive shifts in public attitudes toward disability inclusion. While significant progress was noted, gaps remained in accessibility and policy implementation, highlighting the need for sustained community engagement and advocacy efforts.

This research provided ECI with critical evidence to refine its campaign strategies, strengthen outreach, and advocate for improved disability rights and inclusivity in Afghanistan.
