Adroit Associates is seeking to update and expand its roster of sectoral consultants.

1. Role Summary

The Education and Youth Development Consultant will provide specialized technical expertise on an as-needed, on-call basis to support innovative education and youth development programming. The consultant will contribute to designing interventions that improve learning outcomes, enhance youth skills, promote inclusion, and strengthen education systems, ensuring alignment with donor priorities and international best practices.

2. Duties and Responsibilities

1. Technical Proposal Development & Project Design

· Provide technical inputs for education, youth development, and skills-building proposals, ensuring alignment with donor strategies and local contexts.

· Develop concept notes, logical frameworks, and theories of change for education access, quality improvement, and youth empowerment programs.

· Advise on best practices in formal and non-formal education, youth engagement, gender equity, and inclusive education strategies.

2. Short-Term Technical Assignments

· Conduct rapid assessments such as education needs analyses, youth baseline surveys, and feasibility studies to inform project design.

· Deliver specialized advisory services including curriculum review, teacher training strategies, and youth leadership development.

· Support baseline studies, mid-term reviews, and final evaluations of education and youth development projects.

3. Research & Knowledge Products

· Draft technical reports, case studies, and policy briefs on education trends, youth engagement innovations, and program impacts.

· Analyze local and regional education systems, youth participation patterns, and learning outcomes for donor reporting.

· Contribute to research publications and thought leadership to enhance organizational credibility and influence.

4. Capacity Building & Training (On-Demand)

· Design and facilitate tailored training sessions for partners on topics such as pedagogy, youth mentoring, life skills, and inclusive education.

· Provide remote or in-person mentorship to project teams on education monitoring tools and youth engagement methodologies.

5. Representation & Strategic Engagement

· Act as a technical representative in meetings with donors, government agencies, education authorities, and partners when required.

· Support stakeholder consultations to validate project approaches and ensure alignment with local education and youth development realities.

3. Qualifications

Education:

Advanced degree in Education, Youth Development, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related discipline.

Experience:

· 5+ years of experience in education programming, youth development, or related fields, preferably in fragile, conflict-affected, or underdeveloped contexts.

· Proven track record in supporting successful proposals and delivering high-impact short-term consultancies.

· Familiarity with donor requirements (e.g., USAID, UN, EU, FCDO) and key education and youth development frameworks.

· Strong analytical skills with experience in education assessments, youth need analysis, and program design.

· Excellent technical writing skills for proposals, reports, and policy documents.

· Strong communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.

· Fluency in English required; additional languages relevant to the region are an asset.
