Adroit Associates in collaboration with the International Labour Organization, supported by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan, conducted an assessment of occupational safety and health (OSH) in Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the Balkh Province of Afghanistan.
The report delves into challenges faced by SMEs, including the lack of awareness of OSH risks, inadequate training on OSH, and unsafe working conditions. It also recommends a number of good practices that SMEs can adopt to improve their OSH performance: conducting regular OSH risk assessments, providing OSH training for staff, and implementing OSH measures to control hazards, among others. This report is a valuable resource for SMEs in Balkh Province and the government of Afghanistan as they work to improve OSH.
