Profile

The Management and Strategy Consultant will provide specialized technical expertise on an as-needed, on-call basis to support effective organizational management, strategic planning, and operational excellence. The consultant will contribute to designing and implementing interventions that strengthen organizational performance, enhance strategic direction, and improve management systems, ensuring alignment with donor priorities and best practices.

1. Duties and Responsibilities

1. Technical Proposal Development & Project Design

· Provide technical inputs for management and strategy proposals, ensuring alignment with donor strategies and organizational needs.

· Develop concept notes, logical frameworks, and theories of change for organizational development, change management, and strategic planning initiatives.

· Advise on best practices in leadership development, performance management, risk mitigation, and institutional strengthening.

2. Short-Term Technical Assignments

· Conduct rapid assessments such as organizational capacity assessments, management system reviews, and feasibility studies to inform project design.

· Deliver specialized advisory services including governance reviews, process optimization, and strategic realignment.

· Support baseline studies, mid-term reviews, and final evaluations of management and strategy projects.

3. Research & Knowledge Products

· Draft technical reports, case studies, and policy briefs on management trends, strategic innovations, and organizational impacts.

· Analyze local and regional management practices, organizational structures, and strategic planning processes for donor reporting.

· Contribute to research publications and thought leadership to enhance organizational credibility and influence.

4. Capacity Building & Training (On-Demand)

· Design and facilitate tailored training sessions for partners on topics such as project management, strategic planning, and leadership skills.

· Provide remote or in-person mentorship to project teams on management tools and strategic frameworks.

5. Representation & Strategic Engagement

· Act as a technical representative in meetings with donors, government agencies, partner organizations, and stakeholders when required.

· Support stakeholder consultations to validate project approaches and ensure alignment with organizational realities.

2. Qualifications

Education:

Advanced degree in Business Administration, Management, Organizational Development, Public Administration, or a related discipline.

Experience:

· 5+ years of experience in management consulting, strategic planning, or organizational development, preferably in fragile, conflict-affected, or underdeveloped contexts.

· Proven track record in supporting successful proposals and delivering high-impact short-term consultancies.

· Familiarity with donor requirements (e.g., USAID, UN, EU, FCDO) and key management and strategy frameworks.

· Strong analytical skills with experience in organizational assessments, strategic analysis, and management diagnostics.

· Excellent technical writing skills for proposals, reports, and policy documents.

· Strong communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.

· Fluency in English required; additional languages relevant to the region are an asset.
